People Manager - Maternity Cover

Talon are looking for an exceptional HR generalist with strong operational experience to join our small yet mighty People Team for a fixed-term contract for up to 9 months, either on a full-time or part-time basis.

About the role

The People Manager role reports into the Group People Director and is required to manage the day-to-day HR operational activities in the UK, drive cultural initiatives and lead on ad-hoc projects. This is a pivotal role which partners with line managers in ensuring best practice, provides effective mentorship of the People Coordinator whilst continuously seeking out ways in which to improve and enhance the employee experience at Talon.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers on key people processes (recruitment, performance management, benefits, development programs, etc).
  • Coach, support, mentor and challenge managers in the application of HR policies and practices, providing advice and guidance on complex HR issues.
  • Support in keeping UK policies and procedures, including staff handbook up to date, and ensuring they are communicated effectively and adhered to.
  • Support the People Coordinator with the full recruitment cycle in collaboration with hiring managers.
  • Manage any immigration and visa processes in collaboration with Company lawyers.
  • Support with the roll out of relevant training for 2021 whilst seeking out new development opportunities for our talent.
  • Design and deliver ad hoc training on a variety of topics relating to manager and employee best practice.
  • Lead on promoting the UK benefits ensuring they are being communicated and utilised effectively.
  • Support with the pay review process and benchmarking activities.
  • Work closely with Talon’s Finance Team to ensure payroll is approved each month and they are kept informed of changes.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining, generating and analysing reports from various internal systems and portals including ADP and producing valuable insights.
  • Support the running and management of the monthly People Forum.
  • Management of the People Coordinator providing direction and motivation, and to covering their duties when out of the office.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on HR operational experience.
  • Experience within a start-up or high growth environment is preferable.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • ADP iCHM system knowledge is desirable.
  • Line management experience and a good track record of developing people.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and numerical skills.
  • Experience of supporting with and overseeing payroll.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability manipulate and interpret data.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills with experience of owning and leading projects.
  • Practical, pragmatic and personable.
  • A team player who can work independently but also not afraid to muck in.

Junior Analyst

About the role

This role will make an important contribution to supporting the team’s mission to devise and deliver data-driven solutions for our clients and partners. Ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines whilst maintaining a high quality of output and attention to detail, as well as building great relationships, is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a thorough understanding and becoming a super user of Talon’s proprietary data management platform and solutions. Supporting campaign planning teams in developing effective out-of-home solutions for clients using intelligent data led techniques.
  • Identifying potential system or processing challenges and working closely with the wider department and team of developers to provide effective solutions. Analysing a variety types of data from 1st and 3rd party sources and developing the data warehouse within Talon.
  • Taking responsibility for post campaign reporting functionality and aiding in streamlining and developing the process and exploring in-house and open data sources and identify the best dataset for any given task/report.
  • Thinking strategically and creatively to produce analysis which creates new insights and helps to solve audience targeting and campaign planning challenges.
  • Using PowerPoint and data visualisation software & techniques to explain and showcase analysis and make analysis based recommendations to campaign planners, partner agencies and clients.
  • Communicating analysis and recommendations via oral presentation. Building strong working relationships and collaborating closely with internal teams & external partners.
  • Maintaining and organising Talon’s audience, location and inventory data sets. Producing ad-hoc reports and analysis and contribute to other tasks as required.
  • Continuing to evaluate strategic partnerships with our new and existing data and measurement businesses to elevate and amplify our credentials in this space.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest industry reports and data regulations and help the team to make informed business decisions about any opportunities or challenges in this space.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant work experience in BI, Analytics, Data Science, or comparable fields.
  • A quantitative degree e.g., statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, sciences etc would be desirable, although other demonstrable qualifications/experience will also be considered.
  • Experience of undertaking data analysis and/or post campaign analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and pro-active.
  • Knowledge of SQL or AWS/Athena and/or experience in using other coding languages is a bonus.
  • The ability to manipulate data, reporting and API tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, Postman, Cognosor similar.

Digital PR/Communications Consultant (1 Month Contract)

We have two proprietary digital platforms which we have developed in-house based on our expertise in OOH media: ADA – a data management platform that allows us to build audiences and measure the effectiveness of campaigns Atlas – a demand-side platform that allows media planners to build campaigns in digital OOH media using real-time data and optimise creative executions throughout the campaign life cycle.   They enable us to develop data science and programmatic capabilities than can drive real, measurable value for clients in their OOH media campaigns.  

About the role

Talon is looking for a Digital PR/Communications Consultant to create and implement a plan to help drive wider adoption of these platforms. The project will consist of:

Responsibilities

  • Build visibility for Talon on digital specific properties – panels/podcasts/blogs/publications/etc.
  • Work with the digital team to create a plan for publicising the digital platforms mentioned above (ADA & Atlas)
  • Write (or brief out internally) content for digital specific sites/blogs/vlogs etc.
  • Own relationships with digital specific sites.
  • Manage the creation, delivery, and distribution of content.
  • Social media strategy.

Skills & Experience

  • This person must have experience of working within the digital media , programmatic and data ecosystem. This could be agency, platform or media owner.
  •  They must be familiar with the UK media landscape.
